What to Expect
Our time together will be full of meaningful moments and unexpected highlights! To help you feel prepared when you arrive, we’ve put together a simple outline of what typically happens during a volunteer shift.
Arrive to Food Center or Urban Farm and park in designated areas
Log in as a group
Meet with the Volunteer Manager or Urban Farm Manager
Quick Roll Call
We’ll weigh your food or hygiene donations
Take a tour of the space with go over volunteer expectations
Jump into volunteering and meet our community!
Near the end, we’ll come together for our Faces of Hunger talk
Wrap up with a Closing Huddle for ALL volunteers to end our time together!

Monday through Friday is street parking only.
For Tuesday and Saturday operations, please enter on the doors facing Weil St. Head down the stairs and we’ll meet you down there!
On Fridays, please enter through the doors in the alleyway on E Clarke St. Walk downstairs and we’ll meet you there!

Please do NOT park in Maglio Companies parking lot or the other adjacent lot.
Park across the street on the east side of Port Washington Road in the other Maglio Companies parking lot.
Please note traffic and be careful crossing the street!
Look for the hoop houses on the other side of the chain link fence. We will meet by the tables under the tree.
How to come prepared: Please bring a full water bottle, closed-toed/waterproof shoes (there is thistle on the farm), and sunscreen/skin protection. You will be outside, so please dress according to the weather.
