Your financial gift helps sustain our mission. Together, we can create a place where all are nourished, all belong, and all can prosper.

Ways to donate Financially

  • Making a cash gift by check or credit card is the simplest and fastest way of supporting Kinship. Setting up an automatic donation through your bank is one of the most reliable and efficient ways to support a nonprofit; you can arrange for recurring transfers — monthly, quarterly, or annually — directly from your bank account. We also can accommodate automatic withdrawals or recurring credit card charges at the interval you choose.

Cash gifts also have tax advantages depending on your income and the amount of your deductions when compared to the standard deduction amount.

You can mailing a check to:

    or Donate online.

  • A gift of long-term appreciated stocks or other securities may provide you with greater tax advantages than a gift of cash. You may deduct the current market value of the stock on the date of giving as a charitable gift and avoid any capital gains tax on the stocks appreciation value.

    • You may reduce your income tax if you have sufficient deductions (including the gift) to itemize your deductions. Your gift equals the fully appreciated value of the security. For example, if you bought the stock for $5,000, and it's now worth $15,000, your charitable gift is $15,000.

    • You will not recognize the capital gains on the appreciated security assuming your gift is in the form of the security. Thus, you save capital gains taxes on the $10,000 of gain you would have recognized if you sold the securities outright and then gifted the cash.

Transferring appreciated securities to Kinship Community Food Center is a simple process. We can provide transfer instructions to your broker at your request.

  • Donor-advised funds (DAF) are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the U.S. because they are one of the most straightforward and tax-advantageous ways to give. Making a gift to Kinship Community Food Center through your donor-advised fund (DAF) is easy. For the convenience of our friends who have donor-advised funds, please be sure to share our legal name, address, and federal tax ID number with your DAF administrator. (Kinship MKE, Inc., 2610 N. Martin Luther King Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53212; EIN 46-3422131)

  • A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian payable to a qualified charitable organization. A QCD can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distribution (RMD) under certain conditions. Making gifts from your IRA can have tax advantages if you are at least 70½ years of age.

  • When you reach age 72, you’re required to withdraw a certain amount of money from your certain retirement accounts each year. Giving your RMD directly to a nonprofit organization provides tax advantages.

  • Planning for the future and creating a legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of all other provisions specified. If you have named the Kinship Community Food Center in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we can keep your name and/or gift level in strict confidence.
