Mission Intern Journeys
“…they discover they have something to give, that they’re all needed.”
At the Kinship Community Food Center, we experience daily the transformation that happens when we enter more deeply into the life-giving world of community. Over the course of their year of service, our Mission Interns pour themselves into this community and city and witness the powerful transformation that occurs when generosity takes hold of your life.
The Mission Interns live and work in proximity to our shoppers, building relationships and working to build a stronger community presence. Through their work, the Interns also confront the realities of inequality in our city.
In the midst of Milwaukee’s struggles, our Mission Interns see hope in the transformations of everyone who comes to the Kinship Community Food Center. As Hannah, a past Missionary Intern, explains, “We step back and watch our shoppers and volunteers give of themselves, and they discover they have something to give, that they’re all needed.”
Here, food creates community and community changes our lives. Our Mission Interns are on a journey of discovering their true gifts and their place in the restoration of our city. Thanks for walking with us on this journey, as it’s a journey we all are part of.
