Source: Caitlin Cullen

Ingredients

Number of Servings: 2

  • FEATURED: 16-20 medium brussels sprouts, trimmed and cut in half*

  • 1 ½ Tbsp melted butter or canola oil (or olive oil)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp balsamic vinaigrette (optional)

  • Salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes

Directions

Prep Time: 5 min

Cook Time: 10 min

Total Time: 15 min

  1. In a large sauté pan off the heat, add cooking oil/butter. Add brussels sprouts in a single layer cut side down. Put a small pinch of salt on them and a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.

  2. Put the pan on medium heat and cook the sprouts undisturbed for 5-7 minutes. Flip one brussels sprout over to see if the cut side is starting to brown or caramelize. If they aren’t browning yet turn to medium high heat.

  3. Once the sprouts are uniformly browned, flip sprouts and add 2 cloves minced garlic and toss for 1-2 minutes until garlic is fragrant but NOT brown.

  4. Turn pan onto high heat and add 1 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 tsp balsamic vinaigrette (optional). Toss over high heat for 1 minute and serve immediately.
